We love books!
Tysons Library Friends' mission is to promote literacy and the transmission of knowledge and culture in our community.
The Friends of the Tysons-Pimmit Library are active supporters of their library and their community. Our volunteers give generously of their time and talent to make our library a better place to visit. We especially favor programs that support literacy and other activities that encourage children and their parents/caregivers to fully use library services. We are a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization.
Tysons Library Friends provides funding for programs and materials requested by our branch manager and for other countywide programs. Samples of Friends' funding include: ESL programs, children's programs, author events, popular adult fiction and nonfiction, the Friends Scholarship Fund and 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten administered by the Fairfax Library Foundation, the periodical collection, eBooks, volunteer appreciation and community open house events, and design and native plant landscaping. The Friends also arrange care of the flowers and trees planted around the library.
Shop the Lobby Shelves
In addition to our Quarterly Used Book Sales, Tysons Library Friends offers books for sale every day in the library's lobby! Come in to shop the carts in the front area for new releases, notable books, and books in popular categories, like Children's, History, Self-help, Travel and Fiction/Mystery. Books can be purchased by using the sales kiosks just inside the library.
We take donations!
Ready to clean out your own bookshelves? Drop off your bags of books at the Tysons-Pimmit Library (any time the library is open) into the big bin just inside the front entrance. Donations sought include books of all types (children’s and adult fiction and nonfiction) as well as puzzles, games, CDs, DVDs, and recorded books. We welcome recent textbooks. Please do not donate condensed books, encyclopedias, and magazines. We request your donations of books and media be in good condition.
We lovingly sort, clean up, and price your donated books for resale because we love books! Have a large donation? Contact us directly to arrange drop off at our loading dock entrance. tysonslibraryfriends@gmail.com
